• This artifact is based on a project where I performed research to see if there was any truth to a hypothesis. My job was to find data from qualitative as well as quantitative sources and really it through the ringer to inform my decisions on the project. My goal was to determine if poverty had a significant effect on learning. I wanted to keep a focus on what might impact student learning other than simply just saying poverty and moving on. I used this data to make informed decisions about a hypothetical study I would run and how I could assist the learning of students using both qualitative and quantitative measures. Overall, I would have organized this project in something other than a spreadsheet to make it more appealing to the eyes. At the time it was simply a place to gather my sources. I am an Educational Technology major, so I feel like I could have done more with this if I had to go back and do this again. As for the future, it is important for me to consistently manage and keep track of data since that is what any school or business operates on. Putting data through the ringer like this project did shows how it takes more than just reading an article and referencing a number. An educator needs to dive deeper and look at the data through a microscope sometimes.
