About

  • Scope and Summary: This assignment involves applying policies and standards to different scenarios in a school library setting. The scenarios include issues such as student intellectual property on the library website, staff access to internet resources, parent demands to remove items from the library collection, assigning librarians to teach classes in other content areas, and organizations wanting to donate materials to the library.
  • InTASC Principle: This project aligns with InTASC Standard #9: Professional Learning and Ethical Practice.
    • This principle emphasizes the my ongoing professional learning and use of evidence to evaluate their practice by having me answer to real world scenarios I will likely encounter throughout my time as a media specialist. It also requires me to respond to them via evoking specific policies to justify my decision.
    • By analyzing the scenarios and applying policies and standards, I engage in critical reflection on ethical practice in a library setting.
    • The assignment requires me to consider the effects of my choices and actions on various stakeholders (students, staff, parents) and to adapt my responses based on ethical and professional guidelines.
